LU names new College of Graduate Studies dean
William Harn, professor and chairperson of Lamar University’s speech and hearing sciences department, was recently named as dean of the College of Graduate Studies.
“I am extremely excited,” Harn said. “It is a dream come true. I look forward to the challenges that come with the job.”
Harn, who officially started the position July 1, plans to promote the graduate programs, publicize the accomplishments of the graduate students, and facilitate the growth of graduate programs at Lamar. In addition to his duties at Lamar, Harn also serves on the Council on Academic Accreditation, which formulates standards for the accreditation of graduate education programs that provide entry-level professional preparation in audiology, and is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Prior to earning his doctorate in communication disorders and sciences at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, Harn earned a master of associate’s degree in communication disorders at Northern Michigan University. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in speech pathology and audiology at Illinois State University. Harn has more than 38 years of devotion to the fields of education and research.
