Lumberton bus accident

Lumberton ISD

A bus driver for the Lumberton Independent School District had a minor accident on the morning of Jan. 29 when he struck a pole while transporting three students.

According to a news release from DPS Trooper Stephanie Davis, at approximately 7:20 a.m., a call was received reporting there was a one-vehicle crash at the intersection of Deer Park Road and Railroad Street just west of Lumberton, and the crash involved a Lumberton ISD school bus.

The bus driver reported that he was stopped on Deer Park road and began to back up onto Railroad Street. Due to the fog, he missed the roadway and backed into a ditch, striking a utility pole. At the time of the crash, there were three students on the bus. There were no injuries to any of the students or the bus driver, DPS reports.  The school bus sustained only minor damage.
