Lumberton student arrested for threat

A Lumberton Middle School student was arrested March 8 for sending a threatening message regarding the school, Lumberton Independent School District Assistant Superintendent Gerald Chandler announced in a news release the same day. 

According to Chandler, the student was detained within a few minutes of the message neing received. No student was harmed, and the campus did not have to engage in a lockdown.

"The Lumberton Independent School District would like to thank Lumberton Police Department and everyone involved for swiftly dealing with this action and ask that parents be vigilant and knowledgeable of their child’s communications through their phones," Chandler stated. "Please be reminded that safety and security of our students are of utmost importance."
