Man arrested in Beaumont after assaulting officer
Police arrested 26-year-old Moses Green of Beaumont on Sunday, April 21, for multiple charges, including assault on a public servant, after responding to a call of a disturbance at an apartment in the 5000 block of Helbig Road at approximately 3:15 a.m.
According to a press release from BPD, when officers arrived, Green's wife told them that her husband had been smoking crack cocaine in their bathroom. As officers were attempting to quiet the family disturbance, a neighbor told them that Green had just burglarized their apartment. The officers then attempted to take Green into custody, at which point he reportedly ran from them. Officers pursued Green through the apartment complex and caught up to him along the perimeter fencing. As officers attempted to handcuff Green, he began to resist violently and attempted to strike them with his fists., police reported. Officers were able to physically control Green and place him in handcuffs. He was transported to the county jail and charged with evading detention, assault on a public servant, burglary of a habitation, as well as several unrelated outstanding felony warrants.
Green was not injured during the arrest, and no officers were seriously hurt.
