The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrested a man just outside Fannett for online solicitation of a minor Monday, Nov. 27, Capt. Crystal Holmes said in a release.

Kirt Vavasseur, 32, of Beaumont, was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility without incident, pending bond for the felony charge, the department said.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office's Criminal Investigation Division and District Attorney's Office staff who were assisting investigators from theJones Creek Marshals' Office in executing a search and arrest warrant went to a residence in the 8200 block of Fairway Drive in Jefferson County near Fannett where they found Vavasseur, according to a statement

Parents are urged to monitor their children’s online activities, the sheriff's office said, because many social apps are being used by predators to lure children and teens. Adults presenting themselves as children or teens often contact victims and groom them to meet up. These predators are fluent in the language and acronyms that young people use and will use photos of children or young adults as their profile photo.
