Man attempts to invade PA police officer's home

According to Marcelo Molfino, Assistant Chief Criminal Investigator for the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office, in the early morning hours of September 24, 2015, the Jefferson County D.A.’s office received a request from the Port Arthur Police Department for assistance in an investigation involving an off-duty Port Arthur Police officer who was home and confronted by an intruder attempting to gain entry into his residence.

An independent subsequent criminal investigation conducted by the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Investigator Division has revealed that the suspect, David Wayne James, was encountered by the off-duty officer at approximately 12:41 a.m. just outside the front door of the residence. Facts in the investigation have led to James being charged with Burglary of a Habitation and Aggravated Assault. Bonds were set at $100,000 for each charge.

The Port Arthur Police Department will conduct and handle their own internal investigation, and questions in reference to that matter will be handled by the Port Arthur Police Department. There are no further details pertaining to this investigation at this time.
