Man charged with sexual assault of child

Hanke convicted and sentenced

Police say a Beaumont man charged with sexual assault of a child was caught in the act by his common law wife.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by The Examiner, officers responded to a home in Beaumont’s North End in reference to a victim of an aggravated sexual assault.

When they arrived, police said they were met by the young victim’s mother, who told officers “she had found her common law husband on top of her naked 9-year-old daughter.”

When the mother walked in, the affidavit said Stevie Blaschke Hanke, 40, quickly put his hand over his crotch and tucked his genitals back into his shorts.

A sexual assault nurse interviewed the young victim, who told the nurse Hanke “had put his mouth on her genitals, and rubbed her genitals with his genitals,” the affidavit said.

The 9-year-old also gave a statement on video at the Garth House where she described Hanke’s alleged sexual acts.

Hanke was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury May 3, 2012, on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony. He was arrested May 10, 2012, and is currently in the Jefferson County Jail on a $150,000 bond. He is set to appear for trial Feb. 10 in Judge Lindsey Scott’s 252nd Criminal District Court.
