Man hides from police in attic

Brian Keith Williams

On August 22, at about 6:07 p.m., a Beaumont Police officer was checking the apartments located at 2575 Primrose Street in reference to complaints about drug dealing, Officer Haley Morrow said in a release.

The officer observed a vehicle commit several traffic violations as it left the parking lot. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, however, the driver, later identified Brian Keith Williams, 39, of Beaumont, sped up and recklessly fled to avoid being stopped.

While Williams was fleeing from officers, he was observed throwing items, believed to be narcotics from his vehicle. Williams eventually abandoned his vehicle near Plum Street and Forrest Street, and fled on foot. Officers observed Williams run into his residence located in the 1100 block of Cottonwood Avenue.

Williams was located hiding in the attic and he was subsequently arrested for evading detention in a motor vehicle, evading detention on foot, and possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
