Man killed after laying down in highway traffic lane
Police have identified a man killed over the weekend in an auto-pedestrian crash in Beaumont as Michael Tyrone Motton, a 28-year-old resident of Beaumont. According to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department, witnesses reported that at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday, April 20, Motton walked onto the highway in the 4500 block of Highway 69 South, laid down in traffic there and was struck by several vehicles.
Judge Ransom "Duce" Jones ordered an autopsy. Police have thus far been unable to determine the reason he laid in the path of traffic.
