Man shot dead in Beaumont's north end, another treated and released

Beaumont Police are investigating a homicide and an aggravated assault that occurred late Monday night, Aug. 27.

At 9:58, patrol officers responded to the 1800 block of Glasshouse in Beaumont’s north end when several citizens reported hearing gunshots. One caller told 911 operators that a victim was inside a residence at 1828 Glasshouse.

Officers arrived at that house and found 20-year-old Trazayre Sanders with multiple gunshot wounds.  Beaumont EMS transported the victim to St. Elizabeth ER where doctors pronounced him dead.

At 10:19 p.m., 18-year-old Jacoby Holman arrived at St. Elizabeth ER via private auto with a superficial gunshot wound to his left hip. This male told ER staff that an unknown subject shot him in the 2800 block of Gulf St. ER doctors treated then released Holman. Patrol officers transported him to the Jefferson County Jail for outstanding city warrants. Detectives interviewed Holman at the jail. Holman bonded out of the jail Tuesday morning after that interview.

Detectives also took written statements from other people who were near the scene of the shooting.

Detectives believe the two shootings are related but are working to determine the exact nature of that link. Judge Ray Chesson ordered an autopsy that pathologists were performing the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the Jefferson County Morgue.

Police are asking that any person who has information about this shooting call the Beaumont Police Department at (409) 880-3830 or 832-1234. You may also call CrimeStoppers at 833-TIPS.
