Man suffering gunshot wounds crashes car in Beaumont

A man suffering from three gunshot wounds crashed his car while apparently fleeing from the scene of the shooting Dec. 10, reports the Beaumont Police Department. 

According to a news release from Officer Carol Riley, dispatch received a call in reference to shots being fired in the 3800 block of Bellgree Place at 1:51 p.m. The caller advised officers that a man had been shot in the backyard of a residence and fled in a black Ford Fusion. Officers arrived at the location of the reported shooting and learned that the shooting victim was involved in crash at 990 W. Florida Ave. 

The driver of the Fusion, a 34-year-old Beaumont man, reportedly had three gunshot wounds in his head, chest and side. He was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital for treatment. 

Another victim, a 28-year-old Beaumont man, also reported to St. Elizabeth's with a gunshot wound to his hand. Both victims had to have surgery for their injuries and detectives are still gathering information.

The initial investigation revealed robbery as the possible motive for the shooting, reports Riley.
