Mother’s Day deadly in Beaumont
A 20-year-old Beaumont woman has been arraigned on murder charges following a Mother’s Day assault that resulted in the death of her children's father, 22-year-old Clifton Barkin, also of Beaumont.
According to Beaumont Police, the department was called to the 2300 block of Pope St. just as Mother’s Day was winding up. Shortly after midnight, Monday, May 14, officers arrived on the scene to discover a single stabbing victim dead from his injuries. The suspect, 20-year-old Paige Parkerson, was also on the scene.
Investigation revealed that the suspect was the stabbing victim's live-in girlfriend and mother of his children. Further information gathered contends that the victim and the suspect had been arguing over the Mother's Day holiday. The verbal disturbance became heated and turned violent when Parkerson stabbed her children’s father with an unknown type of knife.
Parkerson was arrested and transported to the Beaumont Police Department to give an official statement to detectives. She was then transported to the Jefferson County Jail where she was booked for first degree murder in her boyfriend’s death. Barkin’s body was transported to the Jefferson Co Morgue where an autopsy will be performed.
