Mother seeks runaway teen

Heaven Ray Cox of Mauriceville

An Orange County mother is searching for her runaway daughter, 15-year-old Heaven Ray Cox of Mauriceville, reports the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO).

According to Criminal Investigator and Public Information Officer Janois Strause Grizzaffi, Tammy Cox called to the sheriff’s office at 3 p.m. on Nov. 26 to report that her daughter had run away, leaving a note telling her mother that the teen was possibly traveling to California.

Cox, who resides in the 4000 block of Lemonville Lane, told deputies her daughter often sleeps late but when she had not emerged from her room all day she went into Heaven’s room to check on her and found the note. The note did not indicate with whom she was traveling or how she may be getting to California, Grizzaffi described.

“As in any case, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is taking this very seriously and is checking all leads that may give our office knowledge of Heaven’s whereabouts,” Grizzaffi stated in a news release. “We are aware of various social media posts claiming Heaven may be in the company of someone she met online. Investigators are working diligently to verify and confirm this information and will actively pursue leads as they come available.”

Heaven is a white female with brown eyes and blonde hair cut past her shoulders. She is 5-foot-3 and weighs about 113 pounds. She has a nose piercing and often wears a diamond stud on the right side of her nose. She also occasionally wears a pair of large, round-rimmed, dark-colored glasses. She is a student at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School.

The teen has several social media profiles, reports OCSO, and investigators are asking that anyone who has had direct contact with Heaven, either through social media or phone, call the sheriff’s office right away at (409) 883-2612, or callers who wish to remain anonymous may contact Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS (8477) or
