Motorcycle collision sends two to St. E's

One woman is in serious condition and another man seriously injured after their motorcycle collided with pickup truck at the intersection of 4th and Crocket Streets.

Police responded to the collision about 5:31 p.m. Friday, June 21, according to a press release, to find a Honda motorcycle had overturned and a Ford F-150 pickup truck had struck a signal pole.

After further investigation, police determined both the 50-year-old driver and the 49-year-old passenger of the motorcycle were thrown from the bike when they attempted to turn eastbound onto Crocket Street from 4th Street. The 59-year-old driver of the pickup was not injured after hitting the signal pole, but both occupants of the motorcycle were not wearing helmets and were rushed to St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious head injuries, the press release said.

The 49-year-old passenger of the motorcycle was perhaps the most seriously injured and was in surgery for her head injury Friday night.

Traffic Officers are still investigating the crash, but police said the motorcycle driver will likely be issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way, according to the press release.
