Motorcycle crash claims life

A motorcycle crash on US 96 in Hardin County, three miles south of Silsbee, claimed the life of a Louisiana woman on Saturday, May 12, reports Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Stephanie Davis.

According to Davis, preliminary reports indicate that a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on US 96. The vehicle traveled off the roadway onto the shoulder. In an attempt to get the vehicle back onto the road, Davis stated, the driver overcorrected causing the driver and passenger to fall off the motorcycle. The passenger on the motorcycle, 30-year-old Bobbie Leigh Jackson of DeRidder, Louisiana, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with serious injuries. Jackson succumbed to her injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased by Dr. David Parkus shortly before 4 p.m.

The driver, a 52-year-old female also from Louisiana, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries.  At the time of the report, DPS did not have any updated medical information on the condition of the passenger.

The driver and passenger of the motorcycle were not wearing helmets..
