Motorcyclist critically injured in spin out in Port Arthur

On Friday, Dec. 23 around midnight, Port Arthur Police officers responded to a motorcycle accident at 8500 Memorial feeder road, PAPD Field Operation Sgt. Lam Nguyen said in a release.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive man in the grassy area near the roadway. "It was apparent that the subject was injured as the result of the accident," according to a PAPD statement.

Investigation revealed that the man had been driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle, which veered off the roadway and struck the curve. He lost control and the motorcycle slid on one side for about 100 yards. The accident appeared to be single vehicle. The driver was wearing a protective helmet and gear at the time of the accident.

The man suffered critical injuries and was later transported to St. Elizabeth's hospital for treatment. The accident is currently under investigation by the Port Arthur Police Department Advanced Accident Investigation Team.
