Motorcyclist suffers fatal injuries in two-vehicle accident

A Lumberton man riding a motorcycle in a two-vehicle crash was fatally injured July 24, reports the Beaumont Police Department. 

According to a news release from BPD, officers responded to a wreck involving a motorcycle and a van at the intersection of Calder Avenue and MLK in Beaumont at about 3:30 p.m.

Beaumont EMS transported the driver of the motorcycle to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Police have identified him as Chase Douglas Allen, 26, of Lumberton. 

The crash is still under investigation.

Chase Douglas Allen, 26, of Beaumont, died Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was born on Sept. 8, 1989, in Beaumont, to Susan Kay Davis Allen and Larry Dale Allen Sr., and was a lifelong resident of the area. Chase grew up and attended school in Lumberton, and was a cabinetmaker at Southeast Texas Woodworks.

He is survived by his mother, Susan Mahoney and her husband, Mike, of Beaumont; father, Larry Allen Sr. of Beaumont; grandparents, Douglas D. Davis, of Sour Lake; and Adele and J.D. Allen, of Lumberton; brother, Larry Allen Jr., of Beaumont; sister, Taylor Grace Allen, of Sour Lake; and nephew, Trenton Lee Coburn.

Chase is preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Alice Laird Davis.

A gathering of Chase’s family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Ave., Beaumont, with a reception to follow at Katharine & Company, 1495 Calder Ave., Beaumont. His committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
