Murder: police investigate Port Arthur shooting

Police in Port Arthur are investigating a July 25 shooting that left a 49-year-old man dead.

Officer with the Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) responded to a call reporting shots fired at the Prince Hall Village Apartments at 914 W. 14th St. in Port Arthur at 10:22 p.m. The officers were soon informed a subject had been shot at the location.

Upon arrival to the apartment complex, officers found the male victim, identified as Floyd Dergent, apparently deceased and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The PAPD Criminal Investigations Division is investigating. No suspects had been identified or arrested at the time of this report.
