Murder suspect named in Beaumont woman’s death

The Beaumont Police Department obtained a warrant for 32-year-old Jaylan Williams of Beaumont late April 2 for the murder of 27-year-old April Michelle Danna, who was killed March 30.

According to police reports, investigators were interviewing Williams at the Beaumont Police Station the day after the murder, March 31. Williams had been previously identified as an acquaintance of Danna. During the interview, Williams allegedly became irate and attacked the detective. Williams was restrained and arrested for assault on a peace officer. He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on that charge while officers continued to work to gather information about the homicide.

“Investigators obtained enough information to get a warrant for first degree murder,” BPD Officer Veronica Payton stated on April 3. “The warrant was signed last night and served to Williams, who was still in jail for assaulting the detective. Bond was set at $125,000 for murder and $7,500 for assault on peace officer.”

Payton advised that the victim was located on the ground in a parking lot at a 1010 Washington Blvd. business. E.M.S. transported Danna to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she later died of stab wound injuries.
