Neches River Festival Parade traffic alert

This year’s Neches River Festival King is Mitch Smith.

Saturday, April 18, at 10 a.m., the Neches River Festival Parade will start at South MLK Parkway and Bonham Street. The parade will continue north down MLK, turn east on Calder Avenue toward downtown Beaumont and then turn south on Park Street. It will continue west on Liberty Avenue, south on Neches Street and end on Crockett Street.

The floats and participants will stage on South MLK. Both north and southbound lanes of MLK from Bonham to Calder will shut down and be detoured from 8 a.m. to at least 10:30 a.m. or until all floats and participants are off MLK.

There will be several streets barricaded along the route and traffic detoured. In a press release, BPD asked that employers notify employees and ask them to adjust their routes accordingly.

For unrestricted access to downtown areas east of MLK Parkway, BPD recommends using McFaddin Street north of Calder, College Street south of Bonham and Fourth Street as detours around the barricaded section of MLK Parkway.

For unrestricted access to the Cops and Kids Carnival at the Event Centre, the department recommend taking College Street to MLK and then turning east on Bowie Street.
