Nederland continues Harvey debris cleanup

Although the City of Nederland completed its Hurricane Harvey debris operation on Friday, Nov. 10, the city said in a Jan. 25 statement that officials realize that some Harvey-affected property owners continue to demo their walls and flooring, and that repairs and re-construction are on-going.

In order to facilitate the Harvey recovery, the City will continue to collect this debris (construction debris such as sheet rock and flooring, trash such as mattresses and furniture) from homes impacted by the storm.

In order to schedule this pick-up, customers must contact the city's solid waste department at (409) 723-1541 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to create a work order to collect the debris.

As with the previous debris operation, the debris must be placed in the right-of-way, and the debris will be carefully monitored to ensure compliance with all existing solid waste and landfill regulations.
