May 19, 2013, at approximately 10:40 a.m. Nederland Police responded to a call of a deceased person at 1515 N. 27th St. On arrival, officers met with neighbors who said they had gone to the residence to check on Patricia Dale Hebert when they found her dead. Officers located a white female 67 years of age identified as Hebert dead on the kitchen floor. The victim had what appeared to be a laceration to the left side of her neck.
There was no forced entry to the house, and the interior of the residence did not appear to have been burglarized. No arrests have been made at this time.
The investigation is being conducted by the Nederland Police Department, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office and The Jefferson County Crime Lab. Judge Mark Derouen is conducting an inquest and has ordered an autopsy.
Hebert’s death is the second Nederland homicide of 2013. Officers arrested 26-year-old Nederland resident Joseph Garrett Arredondo on Wednesday, April 10, in relation to the homicide of his mother, Hollie Ann Arredondo, according to a press release from the Nederland Police Department.
