Nederland makes plans for Harvey reconstruction debris

The City of Nederland completed its Hurricane Harvey debris operation on Friday Nov. 10, city officials said in a statement Dec. 19.

But city officials also recognized that some Harvey-affected property owners continue to demo walls and flooring and repairs and rebuilding is still underway.

In order to facilitate the Harvey recovery, the City of Nederland said it will continue to collect this debris from homes impacted by the storm, including construction debris such as sheet rock and flooring and trash such as mattresses and furniture.

In order to schedule this pick-up, customers must contact the Solid Waste Department at (409) 723-1541 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to create a work order to collect the debris. As with the debris operation, the debris must be placed in the right-of-way, and the debris will be carefully monitored to ensure compliance with all existing solid waste and landfill regulations.

Anyone with questions is asked to call the City Manager’s Office at (409) 723-1503.
