New all sports radio station to debut April 1

No April Fools jokes here. Sports fans in Southeast Texas will be ecstatic to know that beginning on April 1 at 6 a.m., Cumulus Media will officially launch Sports Radio 1450 — the newest and only sports station in the market.

Sports Radio 1450 AM will provide around-the-clock sports coverage from experienced broadcasters and feature high-profile personalities and utilize resources of CBS Radio, include stepping inside “The Jungle” with Jim Rome. Wait, that’s not all.

The station will also carry play-by-play coverage of the Houston Astros, Houston Texans and Texas A&M athletics, which means Sports Radio 1450 is your home for the Astros, Texans and Aggies.

The first game broadcast will be April 2 as the Astros, who are now playing in the American League West Division, host Lone Star rival the Texas Rangers at 7:10 p.m. on opening night of the 2013 Major League Baseball season from Minute Maid Park in Houston.

If not in your car, you can stream Sports Radio 1450 via their website at or the iHeartRadio app as well as 1510 AM.

Daily talk-show schedule includes the morning show with Tiki Barber, Brandon Tierney and Dana Jacobson (5-8 a.m.), John Feinstein (8-11 a.m.), Jim Rome (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.), Doug Gottlieb (2-5 p.m.), Chris Moore and Brian Jones (5-9 p.m.), Scotty Ferrall (9 p.m. to 1 a.m.) and Damon Amendolara (1-5 a.m.).

“We are pleased to offer area sports fans an all-star lineup on Sports Radio 1450AM,” said Leslie Guidry, VP/market manager, “This is an exciting opportunity and a great addition to our impressive combination of radio stations.”

Cumulus Media in Beaumont is also the home of Magic 102.5, Q94 and KD101.
