Nude suspect arrested in Orange

Johnathan Dewayne Joseph

After responding to a call regarding a suspicious person, officers in Orange arrested a naked man at the Best Price Hotel on Halloween night.

Orange Police Department Officer Michael Roush reports officers were dispatched to the hotel at 2610 Interstate 10 West at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 31. When he arrived at about 10:35 p.m., he reportedly observed 27-year-old Johnathan Dewayne Joseph of Orange completely nude near the pool area of the hotel.

According to Roush, Joseph was unresponsive when officer attempted to question him.

"I observed that Joseph was sweating profusely, even though he was not wearing clothing and the weather outside was cool," reported Roush.

The officer also stated that Joseph would "stare off into space" when officers attempted to get his attention, and that the suspect's eyes were watery and his speech slurred. Joseph would not answer questions and did not respond to verbal commands, according to Roush, who classified Joseph's behavior as "excited delirium."

Joseph was placed into custody for public intoxication and taken to the emergency room for medical clearance before being transported to the Orange County Jail.
