One Beaumont man killed and two others injured in shooting

On Friday, Nov. 5, around 3:30 a.m. Beaumont police officers responded to the intersection of South 11th Street and Hollywood in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived, they found two men, a 25 and 26 year old both from Beaumont, suffering from gun shot wounds and had them transported by EMS to St. Elizabeth Hospital. The 25 year old was taken into surgery. The 26-year-old man died at the hospital and was identified as Damon Terrell Walker. Officers learned of a third gun shot victim, a 22 year old man from Beaumont, was taken to Baptist Hospital. He was treated and released. Detectives located and interviewed several witnesses including a possible shooter. Officers reported the incident appears to have started over a disturbance between two groups of people in two cars that erupted into gun fire at the intersection. Walker and the other victim taken to St. Elizabeth were in one vehicle and the other victim was in the other car. Richard Ray Calhoun, 22 of Dallas, was identified as a suspect and was booked into Jefferson County Jail for murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
