One dies in fire on Beaumont's North end

On Saturday, August 5, shortly after 5:00 a.m., Beaumont Fire-Rescue firefighters responded to a structure fire reported at 3557 Grand Avenue with occupants still in the house, Beaumont Fire-Rescue Capt. Brad Penisson said in a release.

When firefighters arrived, they found the front portion of the house heavily involved by flames. Two of the occupants were able to escape without injury, but one occupant was still in the house. Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire as crews searched the house. The other occupant was located and brought out to waiting Beaumont EMS paramedics. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to the extent of his injuries.

Beaumont Fire Investigators are investigating the cause of the fire which caused extensive damage to the house.

Beaumont Police detectives are investigating the cause of death, and Judge R.W Jones has ordered an autopsy. The victim has been identified as Juan Pablo Rico Guerra, 22.
