An Orange man died in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 73 Saturday afternoon after he was reportedly rear-ended by another driver who fell asleep behind the wheel.

At approximately 1 p.m. Aug. 15, a 2009 Ford pickup truck was traveling eastbound in the outside lane on Highway 73. According to Trooper Stephanie Davis, it is believed that the driver of the Ford pickup truck fell asleep at the wheel and rear-ended a 2010 Dodge pickup truck. The impact of the collision caused both vehicles to drive off the roadway and roll over.

The driver of the Dodge, Joseph Menis, 60, of Orange was extracted from his vehicle and transported to St. Elizabeth hospital, where he died at 3:25 p.m. Menis was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver of the Ford, Reid Guidry, 28, of Port Neches was wearing his seat belt and did not suffer any injuries.
