The Orange County Sheriff’s Office and Port Arthur Police Department are investigating the reported kidnapping and robbery of an Orange attorney that is said to have occurred in the early morning hours of May 8, said OCSO.

According to OCSO Criminal Investigator Janois Strause Grizzaffi, Jim Sharon Bearden, 43, of the Bearden Law Firm reported that two men in ski masks entered his home on Dalton Drive just outside Bridge City in Orange County on Monday morning, tied him up with cords and forced him into his own Chevrolet Suburban before taking him to an ATM in “the Mid-County area.” They then made him withdraw an unspecified amount of cash from his account and then left him, unharmed but obviously shaken, with his vehicle. Port Arthur police officers met with the victim in the 3200 block of Memorial Drive in Port Arthur. Deputies and detectives with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the victim’s location and Bearden’s home.

Following the incident Bearden, was interviewed by police in Port Arthur and OCSO deputies were at his home gathering evidence on Tuesday morning, Grizzaffi said. Video surveillance from the area reportedly shows a possible vehicle of interest, a maroon or burgundy SUV, possibly a Chevrolet S10 blazer. The OCSO is following leads and still gathering evidence as the investigation continues.
