Orange county crash claims lives

A fatal multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 10, near FM 1135, in Orange County claimed two lives and left four with injuries Monday, May 21.

Preliminary reports indicate that a Saturn passenger vehicle was disabled on the eastbound frontage road of Interstate 10. Pedro Jose Soza-Orozco of Groves, driving a Ford F-150, pulled in front of the Saturn to assist. Soza-Orozco got out of his vehicle to attach a tow chain to the Saturn when the Saturn was rear-ended by a Ford F-250 pickup truck.

The driver of the Saturn, 26-year-old Steafan Horne Jr. of Louisiana, and his passenger were both transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.  However, the rear passenger, a 2-year-old child and Soza-Orozco, were pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Rodney Price.

The driver of the Ford F-250, 31-year-old Stevan Shonn Smith of Orange, and his passenger, were both transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with unknown injuries.
