Orange man pleads guilty to child pornography charges

A 28-year-old Orange pleaded guilty to child pornography violations in federal court May 20.

Riley Rich Gibson, III, also known as Trae Gibson, pleaded guilty to production of child pornography before U.S. District Judge Ron Clark after the judge ruled he was competent to stand trial.

According to court documents, on Sep. 23, 2010, law enforcement officers executed a federal search warrant at Gibson's residence located in the 1500 block of Link Avenue in Orange.  A search of Gibson's personal computer revealed images of child pornography, some of which are alleged to have been produced by Gibson by using his cell phone camera to photograph a female child younger than 3-years-old in sexually explicit poses. Gibson was arrested at the residence and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Earl S. Hines Sep. 27, 2010, for an initial appearance, where he was remanded into custody pending a detention hearing. Gibson was indicted by a federal grand jury Oct. 6, 2010.

Gibson faces a minimum of 15 years, and up to 30 years, in federal prison at sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set.
