Orange police arrest suspect in Country Store robbery

Police in Orange have arrested a suspect in the Feb. 3 aggravated robbery of The Country Store at 7411 Interstate 10.

According to Orange Police Department Lt. G. Keaton, officers with OPD were dispatched to The Country Store in reference to an aggravated robbery at 12:47 a.m. Upon officers’ arrival, they made contact with witnesses and store employees. The suspects were identified as two black males and a white male wearing hoodies, Keaton reports. One male brandished a black handgun while another brandished a knife as they directed customers to lie on the ground and demanded money. The suspects fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash and property from one of the customers.

Police are examining store video of the robbery, and have arrested a suspect they believe participated in the crime, 17-year-old Orange County resident Deondre Rayon. Rayon was charged with aggravated robbery and held at the Orange County Jail on $25,000 bond.

Police report that Rayon was identified as a person of interest in the robbery with the help of Orange citizens, who provided vital information leading to his arrest.
