Orange resident charged with sexual assault of a child
Orange police have arrested a 28-year-old Orange resident who they say admitted to having sex with a juvenile runaway who was staying at his home but said he did not know she was underage. While police concede that may be true, his Facebook page tells a story of its own, revealing a man on the prowl for sexual satisfaction.
According to a report from OPD, Officer Stephen Ward responded to a call from a deputy with Orange County Sheriff’s Office requesting an OPD officer to a residence in the 1200 block of DuPont Drive in Orange at approximately 7:30 p.m. on July 27. The OCSO corporal told Officer Ward that his department had taken a report of a runaway juvenile from an Orange County address and had located the 12-year-old girl at the residence on DuPont Drive. While at the residence, a 28-year-old male resident of the home identified as Dustin Voegele of Orange reportedly told the corporal he had engaged in sexual intercourse with the juvenile earlier the same day. Voegele was arrested on aggravated sexual assault of a child charges and taken to the Orange County Jail.
OPD Captain Cliff Hargrave said Voegele told detectives he thought the juvenile was 18 and that they met through Hookups.com where the girl was using a false profile. He even knew her by an alias and not her real name, Hargrave reports.
“She really was purporting herself to be older than she was,” Hargrave said. “But there’s something wrong with somebody that can’t tell the difference between 12 and 18.”
In spite of Voegele’s claim that he did not know he was harboring, and having sex with, an underage girl, his posts on one social network at least reveal that the man had strong sexual motivations. Numerous posts contain sexually suggestive text, like one that reads “Help Wanted, Sex Slave, No Experience Necessary, Will Train” and another that reads “Drop the sexiest pic in your phone right here” with an arrow pointing downward toward comments, where people would presumably post their “sexiest” photos if interested. Another post contains a picture of a very young girl wearing printed shorts and a tank top displaying a sexually suggestive message. While those posts span from 2012 to 2013, a more recent one from July 21 reads, “If you’re not ugly drop a selfie,” another request for photos, presumably from women, as indicated by Voegele’s comments on his Facebook page.
According to Texas Penal Codes, if convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, Voegele faces from five to 99 years or life in prison and a fine up to $10,000. Orange County District Attorney John Kimbrough said Voegele remains in jail on a $150,000 bond.
