PAFD responds to Hurricane Matthew

PAFD Captains Ricky Bodin and Richard Malone

At the request of the state of Florida and through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), the state of Texas approved sending resources for disaster relief in preparation for Hurricane Matthew. These resources include Texas A&M Forest Service All-Hazards Incident Management Teams (AHIMT), which currently consist of 30 personnel and may be augmented as the situation develops. Other Texas state agencies are on stand-by to respond to any further requests from impacted areas.

Port Arthur Fire Department Captains Ricky Bodin and Richard Malone have been deployed to Florida as representatives from the Golden Triangle Incident Management Team. They will be working with the Texas Forest Service IMT sent to assist with Hurricane Matthew disaster operations. They will be working with IMT personnel representing the cities of San Antonio, Nacogdoches and Bexar County and the Texas Forest Service.

Bodin and Malone are both members of the Port Arthur Incident Management Team and have provided Mutual Aid disaster support both locally and regionally during several previous disaster operations. Some of their previous deployments include Hurricanes Rita, Gustav and Ike; and flood operations in Jasper, Orange and Fort Bend counties.
