One man is dead and at least three others were injured during a pair of Saturday night shootings in Port Arthur on March 30.

At about 3 a.m. Sunday morning, March 31, Port Arthur police said they responded to a gunfight between two groups of men at 901 Houston Ave. near the Old School Lounge. 

According to a press release, Marcus John “Big Country” Senegal was shot in the abdomen and another unnamed 34-year-old was shot in the lower leg. 

Senegal was later pronounced dead as a result of the shooting. 

As police were interviewing witnesses, police responded to the 900 block of West 14th Street to find two others seriously wounded, the press release said  — in what may have been in retaliation for the night’s earlier shooting.

An unnamed 19-year-old Port Arthur man was shot in the upper abdomen and was taken to Christus St. Mary Hospital before being taken by helicopter to UTMB Galveston. 

Another 55-year-old unnamed Port Arthur man was also found at the scene with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to Christus St. Mary for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the press release.
