Parole violator fails to escape capture, report police
A man with a parole violation who allegedly attempted run from police during a traffic stop in Beaumont Jan. 7 is behind bars in the Jefferson County Jail.
According to a news release from Beaumont Police Department (BPD) Officer Haley Morrow, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling in the 1500 block of Harrison at about 8:45 p.m. The driver did not immediately stop, police report. He instead fled in his vehicle until stopping the car and evading the officer on-foot. The officer apprehended the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Phabian Watson of Beaumont, in the 1700 block of North Street. Watson was arrested for evading detention in a motor vehicle and a parole violation. The evading charge is enhanced due to Watson's prior convictions for similar crimes. His bonds for evading total $15,000, and there is no bond set for the parole violation.
