Pinehurst police chief helps raise money for friend with cancer

Chuck Peet

Pinehurst Police Chief Fred Hanauer is asking the community to come together in support of his friend Chuck Peet of Orange who is fighting colon cancer and other serious afflictions by donating to a GoFundMe account the chief has set up to assist Peet's family with medical expenses and other necessities.

According to Hanauer's remarks on the GoFundMe page for Peet, "Most people from Orange know Chuck Peet. He graduated from LC-M (Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School) in 1984. And if you know Chuck, you know that he will always go out of his way to help anyone who asks. From lending his low-boy trailer, lending his truck, 4-wheeler or himself to help you anytime you ask. Whatever the case may be, Chuck is ALWAYS ready, willing and able to help. Until now.

"Chuck has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon, liver and lung cancer and is currently hospitalized and receiving treatment from M.D. Anderson. He is unable to work and has no other source of income. Please help our friend as he fights for his life against this horrible disease.

"When a disease like cancer stops you in your tracks, not only do everyday bills continue, but medical bills mount to the point you want to just give up.  Let's NOT let this happen to our dear friend, Chuck. PLEASE... dig deep and contribute to this most worthy cause.  You can make a real difference and ANYTHING HELPS...

"Cancer could affect anyone at anytime and surely has already affected you someone you love so you know the toll it takes. It is with the most humble, heartfelt plea we ask for your help."
