PODS of Beaumont collects Thanksgiving fare for food bank

One in six Americans does not know where their next meal will come from and 48.8 million are food insecure.  In southeast Texas alone, more than 900,000 people do not have consistent access to enough nutritious food. In order to do its part and help eradicate this problem in the area, PODS® of Beaumont, a moving and storage company, has teamed up with Lamar University, Market Basket grocery retailer and radio stations Q94, Magic 102.5 and NASH FM 101.7 to sponsor a Thanksgiving Food Drive benefiting Southeast Texas Food Bank this holiday season. The food drive will run from Nov. 4 – Nov. 23. A PODS® container will serve as the main collection point where community members are encouraged to donate nonperishable food items to “PACK THE PODS® CONTAINER”. The food drive begins at the radio station parking lot where the station will randomly offer special incentives, free prizes and discounts for listener donations. “We’re so thrilled that Market Basket and Lamar University are joining in to alleviate hunger in the Beaumont area,” said Donna Wade, territory manager of PODS® of Beaumont. “To have the public come together and donate a canned good is a great step in helping end hunger in the community. We are proud to provide our moving and storage logistics to help make sure the community is well-fed during the holiday season.” Beaumont residents and customers of Market Basket will have the convenience to drop off their donations at the store’s parking lot on Nov. 17. Lamar University football game spectators will also be able to make their contributions during two of their home football games. PODS® containers that will be taking donations are being held at these locations:

Monday, Nov. 4 – 23 - Radio Stations parking lot - 755 S. 11th Street, Beaumont

Saturday, Nov. 23 – Lamar University - 4400 S M L King Jr Pkwy, Beaumont.

Following the last home-game, the PODS® container will be transported to Southeast Texas Food Bank where with food will be sorted and distributed.
