Police arrest Beaumont man for stabbing departing girlfriend

Beaumont police arrested a local man for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend as she was packing up to move out of their shared home and then striking his own sister who stepped in to try to help the other victim, reports Officer Carol Riley.

According to Riley, officers responded to the Hacienda Apartments in the 1000 block of Georgia on April 2 at 7:36 p.m.  Upon arrival, they learned that the Beaumont woman was packing her clothes and trying to leave her 36-year-old boyfriend,  identified by police as Dameion Jakeith Hall. Hall became upset and reportedly stabbed her several times with a knife. Hall’s sister tried to stop the attack, and he struck her in the head with his fist or an unknown object, knocking her to the ground. The girlfriend then managed to escape from the apartment and run for help. A neighbor called police, and Hall fled the scene in a gray Nissan.

Hall was located a short time later at the M&M Express at 1397 Washington, where he was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon-Family Violence and Assault-Family Violence. He remained in the Jefferson County Jail on $85,000 in bonds at the time of this report.

Hall’s girlfriend was transported to a local hospital and taken to surgery. She is expected to survive the injuries.

There were three adults, two teenagers and several small children in the apartment during the assaults, reports Riley.
