Police arrest three suspects after restaurant robbery
On Tuesday, Jan. 10 at about 4:58 a.m., Beaumont Police responded to J. Wilson’s, at 4190 Gladys Street, in reference to a robbery in progress, BPD PIO Haley Morrrow reported.
While officers were on the way to the scene, dispatch advised that the suspects robbed two delivery truck drivers and fled in a silver Chevy Silverado pickup truck. Multiple officers saturated the area, searching for the suspect vehicle. The suspects were described as two men wearing masks, both of which displayed handguns during the robbery.
An officer observed the suspect vehicle near Calder Street and First Street and initiated a traffic stop, according to Morrow. The suspects stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. One suspect was quickly apprehended. A short time later, K-9 Gus and his partner conducted a successful track, locating two additional suspects.
Lonnie Lewis, a 17 year old Beaumont resident (pictured), was placed under arrest and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. Lewis is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of evading arrest and detention.
The two other suspects were male juveniles, and they were also charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of evading arrest and detention. The juveniles were transported to Minnie Rogers Juvenile Detention Center.
