Police chase leads across state lines
Press release from BPD:
Last night around 9:10 p.m. Beaumont Police Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on a Silver Chevy Avalanche pickup that committed a traffic violation in the area of I-10 east at mile marker 848. The suspect was later identified as Isaac Perry II, 38 from Mississippi. Perry failed to stop and continued fleeing into Orange County at a high rate of speed, where he eluded two sets of spike strips. Once Perry was crossing the Sabine river bridge he drove onto the shoulder and threw a bag out of the vehicle window containing a felony amount of Cocaine. Perry continued through Louisiana, after which Louisiana State Police were able to successfully spike Perry’s front tires slowing him down. Perry then drove into a tree causing his vehicle to come to a stop. Perry then exited the vehicle and was placed in handcuffs a short time later. Louisiana State Police took over the investigation and charged Perry with the Narcotics and Fleeing from Police.
This joint effort between several agencies led to the safe capture of this suspect. Special thanks to all the agencies that assisted in this investigation including Sheriff Keith Merritt, who deployed his boat to find evidence the suspect had thrown out of his vehicle while crossing the Sabine river bridge. As the investigation continues, there is a possibility that Perry will be charged here in Texas as well.
