Police identify pedestrian killed in weekend accident

Police have identified a man killed in an auto-pedestrian accident over the weekend as 34-year-old Beaumont resident Dustin Landell Speights.

According to Officer Carol Riley of the Beaumont Police Department, officers responded to 6970 College St. in reference to a crash involving a pedestrian and a white GMC Acadia at 11:44 p.m. on July 29. Responding officers discovered Speights in the roadway. EMS advised he was deceased. Witnesses reportedly told officers that the white GMC Acadia  was traveling eastbound in the 6900 block of College Street as Speights was walking across the road in an area with poor lighting. The vehicle struck Speights.

BPD traffic investigators are investigating the crash.
