Police make arrest in March murder

Officers with the Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) have arrested and charged a teen suspect with murder related to the March 4 shooting death of 18-year-old Kevonn J. Washington, who was found deceased at an apartment complex having suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers took 18-year-old James Earl Holloway into custody at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Nov. 13. Holloway was arrested on suspicion that he shot and killed Washington at Lakeview Palms Apartments, located at 5200 Gulfway Dr., earlier this year.

According to PAPD Det. Sadie Guedry, investigators with her department worked alongside investigators with the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office in a joint effort to identify and bring to justice those responsible for Washington's death. Additional arrests are expected in Washington's murder, accoding to police.
