Police make three arrests in Beaumont robbery

David Slaughter, 21; Robert Edward Fregia, 50; and Koice Bryan Grubbs, 47

Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at 10:44 p.m., officers were dispatched to Raceway at 4205 College in reference to a robbery. Officers were advised that three men beat up and robbed a 48-year-old male victim.

The victim said he was staying at the Ramada Inn and left walking around 10:30pm to buy cigarettes at Raceway. He said he was attacked from behind when he walked behind the Binswanger Glass Co. building. The suspects knocked him to the ground, punched and kicked him in the face and stomach. The suspects took the victims wallet and fled on foot, east toward College Street.

Additional officers arrived on scene, spotted the suspects and gave directions to other officers who were coming into the area. Officers approached the suspects and they took off running down the canal. Officers caught up with the suspects and they were taken into custody without incident. Detectives responded and spoke to the suspects before they were transported to JCCF and booked in for robbery.

The victim’s wallet was recovered and he was transported to St Elizabeth with non life threatening injuries.

The suspects were identified as Eric David Slaughter, 21; Robert Edward Fregia, 50; and Koice Bryan Grubbs, 47. All three men were identified by police as Beaumont transients.
