Police in Orange are investigating a homicide in the city after discovering a local man deceased alongside the roadway, the Orange Police Department reports.

According to Capt. Robert Enmon, officers responded to the 600 block of North Street at 2:30 a.m. on March 24 in reference to a disturbance. When they arrived, they found 38-year-old Orange resident Shane Austin Cooper unresponsive lying next to the road.

"It appeared he had sustained wounds from a sharp object, a blade-type weapon," said Capt. Enmon. "He was pronounced deceased at the scene."

Enmon said no arrests have been made at this time, but police have identified "persons of interest." Detectives are still interviewing witnesses, and police have collected "a large amount of physical evidence," which is being processed at the crime lab. The investigation is ongoing.

Cooper was a graduate of Little-Cypress Mauriceville High School.
