Police say a Beaumont man has died from gunshot wounds he sustained Thursday night as a result of a drug deal in the 2500 block of Primrose in Beaumont's north end.

BPD spokesman Sgt. Rob Flores said Cody Crabtree, 26, died early Friday morning, April 12, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital about 6 a.m. after he sustained two gunshot wounds to the abdomen.

He said Crabtree was in the process of buying drugs when one of at least three African American males opened fire and fled in Crabtree’s vehicle.

The vehicle is described as a 2001 black Chevy Silverado with the license plate 87S-VV8, and police are asking the public for their help in locating the vehicle.

No attempts should be made to detain the men, as police consider them armed and dangerous.

Police are asking that anyone with information call 409-832-1234. Your tip could lead to a cash reward.
