ORIGINAL STORY:

An armed robber fired one shot into the ground during a robbery in the parking lot of the Target Shopping Center on Thursday, Nov. 15

The victim, a 24-year-old female from Orange, was walking back to her car after shopping at Target on the Eastex Freeway in Beaumont. According to a Beaumont Police Department press release, as she approached her car, a man confronted her and tried to take her purse. The woman resisted and struggled with the man. He then pulled out a handgun and fired one shot into the asphalt of the parking lot. The robber was then able to take the purse, and he ran away through the parking lot. He got into a green older-model truck and fled northbound on the Eastex Freeway service road. The woman was not injured during the robbery.

The woman described the robber as a black male, 5-feet-10 to 6 feet in height, with a medium build and facial hair. He was wearing a gray hoodie and dark colored pants.

Patrol officers searched the area but were not able to locate the suspect.  Detectives took statements from the victim and several witnesses.

When he's identified and located, police say the man will face a charge of aggravated robbery.
