Police searching for gunman who robbed AT&T store

Police are reportedly searching for a lone gunman who robbed the AT&T store located in the 4400 block of Dowlen Road in Beaumont on Monday morning, Feb. 17, at approximately 8:32 a.m.

According to BPD Officer Carol Riley, a black male with his face painted light green wearing “very clean” clothes including a gray hoodie with black graphics on front, black slacks, black leather dress shoes, black leather gloves, red headphones and a silver Adidas drawstring backpack entered the business prior to opening. Witnesses said he held a female employee at gunpoint, accosting her as she entered the business and placing his hand over her mouth. The suspect walked the clerk to the back room, where other employees had locked themselves in for safety. He demanded that they open the door or he would kill the female hostage. Once inside the room, he grabbed a deposit bag and took all the money from the store safe before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as slender, approximately 5 foot 7 or 5 foot 8 in height, and armed with a black automatic pistol in his right hand.
