Police, TxDOT S.T.E.P. up traffic patrols for holiday season

The "Christmas Wave" of the Port Arthur Police Department/TxDOT S.T.E.P Program will commence on Friday, Dec. 15, and continue until Tuesday, Dec. 31, Port Arthur police spokesperson LaRisa Carpenter stated in a press release.  The S.T.E.P. program is designed to address speed violations, seatbelt violators and impaired drivers. The effort of the Port Arthur Police Department and TxDOT is to reduce contributing factors that lead to accidents, accidents with injuries or fatalities, by enhancing and increasing the enforcement of these violations.  "The Port Arthur Police Department encourages all motorist to drive safely, whereas all can have a safe and festive holiday season," according to the release.
