Poll workers needed in Jefferson Co.

Voters lined up at polling place

Jefferson County Tax Assessor-Collector/Voter Registrar Allison Nathan Getz, PCC, is calling on residents to assist with the electoral process.

“As voter registrar, it is the priority of this office to make sure our voter rolls accurately reflect those registered to vote in Jefferson County,” she said. “During the elections, any question regarding a voter’s eligibility is directed to our office. We verify the individual with our records and disseminate that information to the election official.

“We must have additional poll workers for the upcoming elections.”

Qualified poll workers, according to information provided by the Voter Registrar, will have the ability to fluently speak, read and write (Spanish is helpful), preferably possess some basic computer skills, be willing to work 12-14 hours on Election Day, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Those selected for the job will be paid $8-$10 per hour.

Getz said, “We have elections coming up in June followed by a major one in November – we have no time to waste.”
